Arts Organizations in Utah Need Your Help

Arts organizations across the state of Utah are struggling at this time because of postponement or cancellation of events due to social distancing practices. As of April 13, 2020, 88.7% or cultural organizations across the state have had to cancel or postpone events because of COVID-19. (Utah Cultural Alliance COVID-19 Survey) According to the same survey, these organizations have lost approximately $55.5 million in admission and non-admission revenue since the pandemic started. For these mostly non-profit organizations that is vital income that they need to continue operations. Utah’s cultural organizations contribute to a more stable, empathetic and entertained society. The joy that the arts can bring is unique and can’t be recreated. There truly is something special about the arts.

send an email to your state legislators and make sure they know the arts should be a part of any COVID-19 related financial legislation that they pass.

Don’t know who your legislators are? Visit this website to find out!

visit the Utah cultural alliance website to find out more about how COVID-19 is affecting the state’s cultural institutions. They also are taking donations that will go directly to artists and scholars affected by the pandemic.

Consider buying a gift certificate to your favorite performing arts space or cultural center. They will be open for business soon and this gesture will help to ensure that happens. Plus, holiday shopping…done!
